STEAK LOFT CHILI
2 lbs. ground beef
2 green peppers
1 large onion
1 can crushed tomatoes (28 oz.)
1.5 bottles of chili sauce (about 18 oz.)
1 Tbsp. Chili powder
1/2 Tbsp. crushed red pepper
1/2 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 Tbsp. cumin
3 to 4 Bay leaves
1 can kidney beans (drained - 16 oz.)
Cook meat until brown. Drain off the grease. Place meat into a crock pot, or other suitable pot. Dice the peppers and onion and saute them. Add to the meat. Add all other ingredients. (I "wash out" the can of tomatoes and chili sauce with a little water that I'll add to the contents of the chili.) Turn the crock pot on low, cover, and cook overnight, stirring occasionally.
You may make it fast by turning the crock pot setting to 'high' - just stir more frequently!
Serve as you like it! Some prefer as is; others with oyster crackers or
saltines; some with cheese and/onions on top! |
