WOMAN JAILED INSTEAD AFTER REPORTING MOTHER
A Williamsport woman was jailed after she went to the Montoursville state police barracks to report a complaint against her mother. According to the Sun Gazette, police say 32-year-old Destiny Elaine Little went there on July 18th to report that her 5-month-old child was being withheld from her. But after an investigation, officers arrested Little for allegedly using drugs around the infant. According to court documents, the child was previously found crying inside a pillowcase next to Little, who was unconscious, where drug paraphernalia was also recovered. Little is being held at the Lycoming County Prison on $10,000 bail.
NORRY MAN ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING HIT AND RUN CRASH
A warrant is out for a Northumberland man accused of assaulting police during a chaotic incident tied to a hit-and-run. According to North Central PA dot com, authorities say on July 27th, 45-year-old Christopher Eloy Flores fled after crashing into a vehicle carrying six people at Fifth and Duke streets in Northumberland, causing over five thousand dollars in damage. When officers later tried to arrest him at his apartment, Flores allegedly punched two officers in the head and resisted arrest. Flores now faces felony assault and child endangerment charges.

TWO CAR CRASH IN MOUNT CARMEL
A two-vehicle crash shut down parts of Routes 61 and 54 Wednesday evening after a Mount Carmel man ran a red light. According to the News Item, police say 66-year-old William Bulliner struck another vehicle around 7:40pm at the busy intersection. Bulliner was taken to Geisinger Medical Center and later released. The other driver, Lawrence Klomps of Palmyra, declined treatment at the scene. Both drivers will be cited. Police report this is the third crash at that intersection in just one week.
CONVICTED RAPIST SEEKS TO DISMISS NEW CHARGES
Convicted child rapist Shaun Maurice Cormier appeared in Lycoming County Court Monday as his defense team worked to try and dismiss new rape charges, citing missing evidence and media bias. According to North Central PA dot com, the judge heard arguments on medical record access, a venue change, and a 14-month delay between accusations and charges, but has not yet ruled. Cormier, who served time for a 2006 child rape and ran a prison drug ring, remains free on unsecured bail. His next court date is set for October 14.
ALGEA BLOOMS IN PA WATERS COULD BE HARMFUL
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is warning residents to avoid harmful algal blooms, or HABs, in waterways across the state. Health Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen says exposure to the toxic blue-green algae can make both people and animals sick. Symptoms may include headaches, skin irritation, vomiting, or even neurological issues. Recent alerts include high-risk warnings in Berks and Wayne Counties. Officials urge the public to avoid discolored or foul-smelling water and report any suspected exposure to the Department of Health.
FIRETREE PLACE BREAKS GROUDN TO EXPAND FACILITY
A $3.5 million expansion is underway at Firetree Place, located at 600 Campbell Street in Williamsport. According to the Sun Gazette, the community center broke ground Wednesday on a project that will double its size, add nine classrooms, and serve over 200 children each day. Plans include new security features, a garage, pavilion, and expanded playground. Phase two will overhaul recreation spaces for teens, adults, and seniors.
