WILLIAMSPORT MAN FACING FELONIES AFTER SHOOTING
A Williamsport man will stand trial on multiple felony charges stemming from a non-fatal shooting on Park Avenue. According to the Sun Gazette, a district judge ruled yesterday that 25-year-old Zaire Jones-Wallace will face charges including attempted homicide and aggravated assault for the October 31st shooting that critically injured a 15-year-old boy. Police testified the teen was shot twice in the chest at a party in the 800 block of Park Avenue and nearly lost his life. Jones-Wallace later turned himself in to police and remains jailed as the case heads to county court.
COMMISSIONERS PROPOSE 2026 BUDGET
Lycoming County commissioners have unveiled a proposed 2026 budget that is balanced at just over one-hundred-twenty-three million dollars, but includes a half-mill property tax increase. The increase would cost taxpayers about fifty dollars for every one-hundred-thousand dollars of assessed value and would be the county’s first tax hike since 2018. Officials say the increase is needed due to rising health care costs, juvenile probation expenses, landfill debt and delayed state and federal reimbursements. Commissioners emphasized that no money would be taken from the county’s fund balance under the proposal.
DEER SEASON STARTS SATURDAY
Pennsylvania’s statewide firearms deer season opens Saturday and runs through Dec. 13, sending more than half a million hunters into the woods. The Game Commission says deer season remains a key tool for managing wildlife and providing food, with hunters allowed one antlered deer and additional antlerless tags depending on permits. Last year, hunters harvested nearly 477,000 deer and donated a record 283,000 pounds of venison to food banks through Hunters Sharing the Harvest. With expanded antlerless licenses and two open Sundays this year, officials expect another strong season.

Investigators say Hackenburg admitted taking the money to support a gambling addiction.

Raymond Hohl has resigned as director of the Penn State Cancer Institute following a Spotlight PA investigation into his patient care and leadership. Penn State officials confirmed the resignation Friday, but said he will remain a faculty member.
