FORMER OLD LYCO BOOKKEEPER FACING THEFT CHARGES
A former Old Lycoming Township employee is facing criminal charges accused of stealing more than 32-thousand dollars in public funds. According to the Sun Gazette, Lycoming Regional Police say Angela Sarah Reome, allegedly paid herself for more than 1,000 hours of unauthorized comp and sick time while serving as assistant bookkeeper. Investigators say the fraudulent payouts were uncovered after her resignation. Reome turned herself in and was released on 50-thousand dollars bail.
MOTHER CHARGED WITH CHILD ENDANGERMENT
A Williamsport woman is free on bail while facing serious felony charges involving child endangerment. According to the Sun Gazette, Markesha Renea Jordan, is accused of allowing her children, including two under the age of six, access to loaded handguns and drugs seized during a search of her former Second Street home. Jordan was arraigned last week and released on fifty-thousand dollars bail. Police say a co-defendant in the case has already been arrested.
EASTERN PA HOSPITAL FIRE FORCES EVACUATION OF OVER 70 PATIENTS
A late-night fire in Lackawanna County forced the evacuation of more than 70 patients from Lehigh Valley Hospital Dickson City after flames broke out on the roof of an older medical office building on the campus. Fire officials say smoke could be seen billowing into the air as patients, some on gurneys, were moved to ambulances and taken to other hospitals across the region, including Geisinger Community Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. No injuries were reported from the blaze. An invetsgation has started to find the cause of the fire.
ICE SCULPTURE WEEKEND IN LEWISBURG
Downtown Lewisburg is set for a full weekend of Ice Festival fun. Events begin today with ice sculpture installations and the Sip and Shop from five to eight. JERSEY SHORE MAN FACING RECORD NUMBER OF CSAM CHARGES
A Jersey Shore man is back in custody facing a record number of charges. According to State police, 20-year-old Ty Martin Codispoti was arrested Thursday on nearly 10,000 felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse material after investigators uncovered thousands of additional images and videos on his cellphone. Codispoti was already out on bail awaiting trial on similar charges. A judge denied bail, and he was taken to Lycoming County Prison.
FEDERAL CHILD PORN CHARGES FOR BRADFORD COUNTY PASTOR
A pastor from Rome, PA is now facing federal charges in addition to child pornography counts filed in Bradford County. Prosecutors say 41-year-old Brad Daniel Swink produced and shared child sexual abuse material between 2023 and 2025, charges that carry a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Swink was arrested in April after a tip led investigators to images on his devices. He remains jailed on $500,000 bail as the case moves forward.
FUNDING APPROVED FOR CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTING SOFTWARE
Williamsport city council is moving forward with an agreement that will help the fire department stay eligible for state grant funding. According to the SUN Gazette, Fire officials asked council to approve a contract with ESO for incident reporting software, at a cost not to exceed fourteen-thousand dollars. The system will track fire and EMS calls, including responses into South Williamsport, and help the bureau monitor staffing and overtime costs. Officials say the software is required by the state and will be paid for through the bureau’s existing budget.
NORTHUMBERLAND RIVERBOAT FUNDING SECURED
Northumberland Borough Council heard an update this week on the community riverboat project with the Central Susquehanna Riverboat Society. They raised 500-thousand dollars through grants and donations. Leaders say the boat’s hull is nearly complete, the slip at Pineknotter Park is mostly finished, and new funding from the Degenstein Foundation will help purchase key equipment. Organizers say once those items are installed, the completed riverboat can be shipped to Northumberland.
