WILLIAMSPORT WOMAN SKIPS TRIAL, ARRESTED WITH A WARRANT Authorities have issued a warrant for a Williamsport woman accused of failing to appear as a witness in a homicide trial. Prosecutors say Britney Marie Taylor ignored a subpoena to testify in the case against Dawud Rogers, who was charged in the 2016 shooting death of William Michael Blackwell. The trial later ended in a mistrial, and Taylor now faces a misdemeanor absconds charge for not appearing in court.
NATURAL GAS OFFICIALS WANT 90 WELLS IN LOYALSOCK STATE FOREST
A recent public hearing drew sharp debate over a proposal to drill for natural gas in Loyalsock State Forest. A representative of the Marcellus Shale Coalition urged the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to approve Pennsylvania General Energy’s plan for up to 90 wells on Jacoby Mountain, citing jobs and environmental stewardship. TROUT UNLIMITED TO HOLD PROGRAM ABOUT PA STREAM HABITAT PROGRESS

TROOPER SHOOTS DOG DURING WELFARE CHECK
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a welfare check that ended with a trooper shooting a dog in Clinton County. Police say the incident happened January 26 at a home on Renovo Road in Allison Township after concerns were raised about a student’s safety. Troopers say a juvenile opened the door and a dog attacked, injuring a trooper’s hand and leg. One shot was fired, killing the dog. The juvenile was not hurt. The trooper was treated at UPMC Lock Haven, and an internal investigation is underway.
CALIFORNIA MAN EXTRIDITED TO PA FOR EMAIL AND PHONE THREATS
A California man extradited to Snyder County is being held without bail after authorities say he made repeated threats by phone and email against a Geisinger nurse and several local law enforcement officials. Prosecutors say Daniel Bozin was flown from Los Angeles to Pennsylvania to face felony stalking and retaliation charges, along with new misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and harassment. A judge denied bail, citing continued fear among victims, and a preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for February 23.
LEGISLATION GUIDES HOW TO PLUG OIL AND GAS WELLS IN PA
The state Senate has approved legislation sponsored by Senator Gene Yaw of Loyalsock Township to improve how abandoned and orphaned oil and gas wells are plugged in Pennsylvania. The legislation clarifies standards for how deep contractors must clean out old wells before sealing them, a change supporters say will reduce delays and help the state fully use nearly 400 million dollars in federal funding. The bill now moves to the House for consideration.

* Lindsey Vonn said Monday in a social media that she suffered a complex tibia fracture “that will require multiple surgeries to fix properly” when she crashed in the downhill Sunday, racing despite having torn the ACL in her left knee nine days earlier in another crash.
* Vonn said her right arm hooked in the gate causing the crash and it had nothing to do with previous injuries.
