HOMELESS MAN BREAKS INTO COURTHOUSE
A homeless man is facing felony charges after police say he broke into the Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury. Officers responded to an alarm Saturday afternoon and found an open window. Inside, they say 38-year-old Keith Good was located wearing only boxers and was taken into custody. Police say Good was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. He’s now in county jail on $50,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 24.
TOWANDA WOMAN SENTENCED TO STATE PRISON
A Towanda woman convicted of drug dealing, burglary and neglecting her infant child has been sentenced to state prison. Thirty-seven-year-old Harley Jean Shores received three to eight years for burglary, endangering the welfare of a child and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. Authorities say Shores sold meth to a confidential informant in 2024 and was later arrested after her six-week-old baby was found severely malnourished and dehydrated. The child was taken into custody by Bradford County Children and Youth Services. Shores was also involved in the burglary of the former Daily Review building in Towanda.
LEGISLATION COULD ALLOW RETIRED RESPONDERS TO TEACH
A bill aimed at boosting emergency responder training is moving forward in Pennsylvania. According to the Daily Item, State senators unanimously approved legislation that would allow retired police, fire, and EMS personnel to return as part-time instructors without affecting their pensions. Supporters say the measure addresses a growing shortage of qualified instructors across the state. The bill now heads to the House for consideration and must pass before the end of the legislative session to become law.
ONLINE THREAT PROGRAM OFFERED
Pennsylvania State Police are launching a program to help families better understand online safety and emerging technology. The presentation highlights risks tied to online gaming platforms like Roblox and explains how parents can use controls to monitor their children’s activity. Troopers also discuss how criminals may use artificial intelligence tools, including deepfake voices and images, to target victims. Officials say the free program is designed to help parents recognize warning signs and protect children online. BRADFORD COUNTY MAN ARRESTRED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A MINOR
A Bradford County man is facing dozens of serious charges after an investigation into the alleged abuse of two young girls. State police say 58-year-old Joseph Zenewicz of Rome is accused of repeatedly assaulting a child over several months, and of a separate incident involving another minor. Investigators began looking into the case last year after a report from a parent. Authorities say evidence was later recovered from a cell phone. Zenewicz is being held without bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled later this month.
DISTURBANCE AT LOYALSOCK RESTAURANT
A Pittsburgh man is facing a citation after police say he caused a disturbance at a Loyalsock Township restaurant. According to North Central PA dot com, state police say 44-year-old Chevon S. Troutman was extremely intoxicated when he became disruptive at the Denny’s on East Third Street shortly before 4 a.m. on March eighth. Troopers responded to the restaurant and later filed a summary citation for public drunkenness and similar misconduct through the office of District Judge Gary Whiteman.
GRANT TO COMBAT FOOD INSECURITY AT CU
Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania has been awarded a sixty-thousand dollar Hunger-Free Campus grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The funding is the highest amount awarded and will support students at the Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Mansfield and Clearfield campuses. Officials say the money will help expand campus food pantries, purchase food and hygiene supplies, and improve existing facilities. University leaders say the program helps ensure students’ basic needs are met so they can stay focused on their education and completing their degrees.
MILTON BOWLING TEAM BRINGS HOME THE TITLE
Milton’s boys bowling team has made history, capturing the program’s first Pennsylvania State High School Championship. The Black Panthers defeated Elizabethtown in the finals after a strong semifinal win over Eastern York. Peyton Schley led the way, posting the top series of the tournament and earning MVP honors, while also finishing third in singles competition. The team was celebrated with a fire truck escort upon returning home.

A Montoursville soccer standout is being honored for her record-breaking career. Tesa McKibben will be inducted into the Saint Francis University Athletics Hall of Fame this July. She finished as the program’s all-time leader in goals, assists, and points, and was a four-time conference player of the year. McKibben also helped lead the Red Flash to multiple championships and remains one of the top scorers in District 4 history.
