The inmate and a roommate are both jailed on drug and weapons charges, each held on 150 thousand dollars bail.

MAKEOVER FOR WILLIAMSPORT PARK
A major makeover is coming to Young’s Woods Park in Williamsport’s east end along Railway Street. City Council has approved a 39-thousand-dollar contract with Hunt Engineers to design improvements for the three-acre park. Plans include an inclusive playground, accessible pavilion, pickleball courts, walking paths, lighting, and a new parking area. Officials say the project will improve safety and accessibility for all users, and it will be fully funded through state and foundation grants, with no cost to the city.
GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL MEAT PROCESSORS
Small meat and poultry processors in Pennsylvania can now apply for grant funding to grow their operations. The state’s reimbursement program offers up to 100-thousand dollars to help cover costs like equipment, training, and technical support. Officials say the goal is to support small producers and expand local food processing. Applications opened March 23rd and will be accepted through May 8th online through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Electronic Single Application.

DEER HARVEST NUMBERS UP
Pennsylvania hunters saw an increase in deer harvests this season. The Game Commission estimates more than 505-thousand deer were taken during the 2025-2026 hunting seasons, about six percent higher than the year before. That includes more than 185-thousand antlered deer and over 320-thousand antlerless deer. Officials say the rise was partly intentional, with more licenses issued to help control deer populations, protect forest health, and slow the spread of chronic wasting disease.
