He was inspired by his grandfather’s old saying, “I think I would turn down heaven for your mamaw.” But when McDaniel accidentally said “burned down heaven” while starting to write the song, that phrase resonated deeply with him and led to the track’s creation, with the help of writer Jon Nite and writer-producer Lindsay Rimes.
