MIDDLEBURG MAN ACQUITTED OF RAPE OF A CHILD
A Snyder County jury has acquitted a Middleburg man of child rape and related charges after a two-day trial. According to the Daily Item, 55 year-old Jeffrey Try had been accused of raping a 9-year-old girl between 2018 and 2019. His first trial ended in a mistrial in April. Jurors deliberated just 30 minutes Friday before finding him not guilty, with defense attorneys pointing to inconsistent testimony from the alleged victim. Prosecutors acknowledged the jury was attentive throughout. Try previously pleaded no contest in 2008 to misdemeanor indecent assault in an unrelated case.

The crash last Friday morning forced the shutdown of the Eighth Street Drive bridge over Interstate 180 in Delaware Township. Both I-180 and the bridge were closed much of the day, but PennDOT later reopened the span after inspections found it safe under temporary traffic controls. Drivers will see lane shifts at the bridge until permanent repairs are designed and announced.
