MAN ARRESTED AFTER SENDING EXPLICIT MESSAGES TO DECOY TEEN
A Williamsport man is behind bars after allegedly trying to solicit sex from what he thought was a 13-year-old girl. According to the Sun Gazette, 57-year-old Daniel Ade exchanged explicit text messages with someone he believed was a teen, but it turned out to be adults running a decoy account. When confronted at his apartment Monday, Ade allegedly resisted arrest and threatened to harm himself. He’s now jailed without bail on multiple felony charges, including solicitation to commit sexual assault and corrupting a minor.
JUDGE TO DECIDE WHETHER SUSPECTED MURDERER WILL BE TRIED AS AN ADULT
A Williamsport teen could be tried as an adult for his alleged role in the murder of another teenager in 2024. A Lycoming County judge will make the decision about 19-year-old Ja’hsir Kasheem Legare who is accused of killing a 15-year-old Ahmeen Palmer outside the Williamsport TGI Fridays. Legare was 17 at the time of the 2024 shooting and if he is tried as a juvenile, he could be released at 21 with no supervision. However, as an adult, he faces life without parole. Judge Ryan Gardner is reviewing testimony from psychologists and probation officials before making his ruling.
WILLIAMSPORT CITY COUNCIL ELECTION RESULTS TIED
As provisional ballots were counted this week for the Williamsport City Council race, it’s come down to a tie. Lycoming County election officials told the Sun Gazette, incumbent Republican Council Vice President Eric Beiter and Democratic challenger April Line are deadlocked after the latest count. Three council seats were up for grabs among five candidates, with Liz Miele and Jonah Milliken securing the top two spots. One outstanding overseas ballot could still break the tie, but if it doesn’t arrive by today, the winner will be decided by a drawing.
