MORE ABUSE CHARGES FOR WILLIAMSPORT MAN
A Williamsport man already jailed for child abuse charges is now facing more serious charges. Police say 33-year-old Theodore Allen Fisher is accused of intentionally causing burn injuries to his young child over a two-year period, leading investigators to file felony aggravated assault and related charges. Fisher was previously charged with neglect for failing to get medical care for the burns, but a new complaint alleges he inflicted the injuries between 2022 and 2024. He waived his preliminary hearing last week and remains jailed in Lycoming County Prison on three-hundred-thousand dollars bail.
MAN WHO PREVIOUSLY STOLE RENTAL CAR, LATER FLED FROM POLICE
A Williamsport man was recently arraigned after state police say he led a trooper on a chase in a stolen rental car. Court records show Hakeem Jefferson, was taken into custody following a pursuit that began in Loyalsock Township after police say he ran a stop sign and refused to pull over. Investigators say Jefferson ran additional stop signs and a red light before abandoning the car near Shaw Place Park, later learning the Nissan Altima had been stolen earlier that morning. Jefferson was arraigned before William Solomon on felony charges including fleeing police and receiving stolen property, along with multiple summary offenses, and remains jailed on fifty-thousand dollars bail.
PUBLIC COMMENT OPEN ABOUT AIR QUALITY PLAN IN SHAMOKIN DAM
Public comments are now being accepted on a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection air quality plan tied to increased capacity at the Hummel Station power plant in Shamokin Dam. DEP says the plan covers a thirty-two megawatt upgrade approved by PJM Interconnection earlier this year. Capital Power, which purchased the natural gas plant in July, has announced major investment plans tied to future energy demand. No hearing is scheduled, but one may be requested. ORGAN CONCERT IN WILLIAMSPORT
Area organists will present a “Christmas at the Organ” concert Sunday afternoon at Covenant Central Presbyterian Church in Williamsport. According to a press release, the concert begins at three o’clock at the church on West Fourth Street and features members of the American Guild of Organists performing favorite Christmas music, including carols in a variety of styles. Performers include Leatha Kieser, Dr. Marcus Krieger, Donna and Kenneth Elkin, Carol Waltz, and Jonathan Moser. The free concert marks the final event celebrating the church’s Schantz Pipe Organ.
OHIO WOMAN IN CUSTODY FOR MULTI STATE CHECK WASHING SCHEME
An Ohio woman accused of running a multi-state “check washing” fraud scheme is now facing charges in Union County tied to incidents at several northcentral Pennsylvania banks. Court records show 63-year-old Jennifer Carol Folzenlogen of Cincinnati was charged with 21 offenses for alleged crimes on June 25 at banks in Milton, Lewisburg, and Danville, where state police say she used a fake ID to cash altered checks totaling nearly nine-thousand dollars. A similar attempt in Berwick was stopped by a teller who noticed the check appeared washed. Folzenlogen has also been charged in Northumberland, Centre, Blair, Snyder, and Westmoreland counties, including a May incident in Sunbury, and is currently incarcerated in Westmoreland County. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in January.
SERVICE HIRED TO HELP CITY SPEND FUNDS
The City of Williamsport is moving to speed up how it uses federal housing dollars, approving a professional services agreement with Hailstone Economic for up to thirty-thousand dollars in 2026. City housing officials say the firm will help manage and spend down HOME funds, update outdated policies, and prioritize housing rehabilitation projects. City Council members noted the city is looking at roughly two million dollars in available funding, including program income and unspent prior-year funds, with the goal of getting that money into the community more efficiently.
SALVATION SEEKING DONATIONS DURING A LEAN YEAR

SUNBURY UNVEILS AMERICA250PA BELL
A new public art installation marking America’s upcoming 250th anniversary has been unveiled in Sunbury. The Bell of Light was dedicated at the Northumberland County Courthouse as part of the America250PA Bells Across PA initiative. Organizers say the bell was created by local artist Pedro Reyes and sponsored by the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau. Officials say the program aims to place commemorative bells in all sixty-seven counties ahead of the 2026 semiquincentennial.
