CITY POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO SHOOTING INCIDENTS
There were two shooting incidents in Williamsport within a 24 hour period last Friday and police are investigating. According to the Williamsport Bureau of Police, they responded to reports of shots fired at 12:44 am at the 400 block of Lycoming Street and then at 12:48 pm, at the 600 block of Wildwood Boulevard. Criminal Investigation Unit Agents continue to investigate both crime scenes and have found evidence that shots were fired in the areas reported. WOMAN CHARGED AFTER DUI
A South Williamsport woman has been charged after police say she endangered the welfare of a child last April for driving under the influence with a 2 year old child in the car last April. Police told Nortt Central PA dot com that they followed 32 year old Christian Bouse in the Borough along West 6th Street and observed her swerving and almost hitting a pedestrian. When Bouse was stopped near Percy Street, she was taken to the hospital and later registered a blood alcohol level of .331. The child is in custody of relatives. Bouse faces a Lycoming County Judge in a formal arraignment September 30th.
MEETING TO REVEAL BRADBAND STUDY RESULTS
There will be a meeting this week to update valley area counties on rural high speed data inefficiencies analyzed through the region’s broadband asset and infrastructure study. According to the SUn Gazette, SED Council of Governments and Design Nine Inc. will present specific strategies to improve broadband services for Lycoming, Clinton, Northumberland and Union Counties Tuesday at 6pm at the Trade and Transit Center II on West Third Street in Williamsport. Rural broadband connections are important for communication services, schools and first responders as well as needed for future growth in rural Pennsylvania.
CABLE MEDIAN BARRIER PROJECT CONTINUES ALONG 322
Traffic will be affected this week as PennDOT continues the cable median barrier project along Route 322 between Potters Mills, Reedsville and Milroy. During the workday, crews will be implementing short term lane closures in the passing lanes of east and westbound 322 to excavate the median and install the hardware for the line posts. The installation is scheduled to be complete in mid-December.
MAN RAMS ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH HIS CAR
A man from Limestone Township was taken into custody after he was charged with intentionally ramming his vehicle into a woman’s vehicle in a domestic incident. Thirty-three year old Shawn Rhinehart informed Brittany Grey that she could pick up her belongings after moving out of the home on Middle Road in Jersey Shore since he would not be home. The Sun Gazette reports that when Grey went to the property around 11am Friday and got out of her car, Rhinehart was there, threatened her with a knife then hit her vehicle with a passenger inside. Rhinehart left the property and was apprehended a short time later at his place of work. He is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle and terroristic threats and is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 25 thousand dollars bail.
LOCAL REALTOR MISSING Union County man is still missing after he jumped from an abandoned railroad bridge near Wapwallopen Creek Saturday evening. 22-year-old Brenden Snyder of Mifflinburg is missing after he and a friend were at the ‘Powder Hole’ swimming hole in Luzerne County. Police told the citizens voice dot com that Snyder did not resurface after his jump at 6:30pm. WKOK reports that searches continued for Snyder over the weekend in the turbulent water and will continue today. Brenden Snyder is a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Hodrick Realty in the Lewisburg office.
COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE TO HOLD FORUM
There will be a public forum between the Lycoming County Commissioner candidates Tuesday, October 1st in Montgomery. Jack McKernan, Scott Metzger, Rick Mirabito, Tony Mussare and Elliot Weiss will meet at the Eagle Community Grange at 6:30 on the 1st. They will have beginning and ending remarks and will respond to written questions from the audience. According to officials from the PA Grange told the Sun Gazette that all voters are encouraged to attend and get to know the candidates so they can make an informed choice in November.
BLOOMSBURG FAIR CONTINUES THIS WEEK The 164th Bloomsburg fair continues today The Oak Ridge Boys take the Grandstand stage tonight. There’s a Banjo Contest tonight on the Bandshell/freestage. The fair committee says there are several new attractions at this year’s event. At 3 p.m. each day outside the Martz Technology Building, there will be a grape stomping competition featuring local elected officials. Superintendent of Livestock, Jeff Giger, needs your help naming the goat and pig replicas that are new additions to the Livestock Area this year. Complete an entry form for each animal and place it in the marked containers in the Livestock Area. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 25th.
