SUPPORTERS GATHER FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP IN MONTOURSVILLE
President Trump was in Montoursville Saturday night at the Williamsport Regional Airport speaking to a throng of supporters as he works to get in the final push before Election Day. The President began around 9pm after Air Force One landed about an hour late. He will now continue to cover the area with stops planned in North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Vice President Mike Pence is set to appear in Erie, today at 2 p.m. Democratic nominee Joe Biden, his running mate, Kamala Harris, and their spouses will stay in Pennsylvania with Biden visiting Pittsburgh and Harris heading to Philadelphia. Biden is also scheduled to be in Cleveland today, as polls indicate a tight race there.
WILLIAMSPORT CHILD HIT BY CAR SATURDAY
A child who was struck by a car Saturday night in Williamsport was hospitalized with serious injuries. According to the Sun Gazette, the boy who was struck around 8pm may have been trick or treating with family members. The car was heading west along the 500 block of Rural Avenue when the boy was crossing from the north to the south side of the street. No word on the condition of the boy today.
UNIVERSITY FACULTY FACING FURLOUGHS
Furlough letters have been sent to over 80 tenured and potentially tenured faculty at Indiana and Edinboro Universities in Pennsylvania beginning a process that could bring job losses across the commonwealth’s State education system. According to information released by the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties, which represents faculty at the 14 universities in Pennsylvania, the reductions, combined with retirements and eliminating temp contracts, means about 128 fulltime posts and some entire departments could shut down. At Indiana University of Pennsylvania enrollment in five college of fine arts programs was eliminated after they experienced a 33% enrollment decline over the last decade.
ROAD WORK THIS WEEK IN MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP
PennDOT will be working on Route 54 in Elysburg and Mount Carmel Township this week. Lane restrictions will be in place while crack sealing takes place on Route 54 from the intersection of Route 487 in Elysburg to the Northumberland/Columbia County line in Mount Carmel Township. Work will continue through Friday November 6 with flaggers and alternating lane closures in place .
BIDEN SUPPORTERS GATHERED IN LOYALSOCK SATURDAY
Supporters of Presidential candidate Joe Biden gathered in Loyalsock Township Saturday along the Golden Strip to support the former Vice President. According to the Sun Gazette, some who were on hand cited some reasons that they to support Mr. Biden is his scientific approach to the US role in the global COVID-19 crisis, as well as support for Biden’s plans for job creation and clean energy. Joe Biden, his running mate, Kamala Harris, and their spouses will be taking part in a late election push in Pennsylvania and Ohio today – the day before the country’s Election Day.
PRESIDENT TRUMP STUMPS IN PA OVER THE WEEKEND
President Trump spent time this past weekend in Pennsylvania speaking to supporters in Montoursville Saturday night at the Williamsport Regional Airport and holding rallies in Erie and Butler, PA. There were more issues with shuttle bus transportation at the rally in Butler this weekend when supporters were left without a way back to their cars parked miles away. This repeating the scene from Tuesday’s rally in Nebraska, when some supporters left without shuttle transportation from the event, were hospitalized for cold exposure they suffered. According to Newsweek, President Donald Trump’s rally near Pittsburgh also left thousands stranded for almost two hours waiting for buses to take them back to their cars. The temperature was 41 degrees in Butler.
LOCAL COVID-19 UPDATE
Lycoming County has 9 new cases of the Coronavirus as of yesterday, and there are 14 in Northumberland County and three new cases in Montour County. Statewide, the Pennsylvania Department of Health said there were a total of 2,510 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 208,027 and 28 new deaths reported for a total of 8,812 fatalities. Local prisons report one new inmate at SCI Coal Township testing positive, and one additional active staff case is reported at Allenwood and no change reported at Lewisburg penitentiary

The polls will be open tomorrow at 7:00am and will stay open until 8:00pm. According to lyco.org Voters who are in line before the polls close at 8:00pm are still permitted to vote. Those in Lycoming County who still have a mail-in ballot can drop it off today at the office of Voter services At 33 west third street in Williamsport.
