FORMER CITY OFFICER GETS NEW CHARGES
Charges that had been withdrawn due to lack of evidence have been filed again in the case of former Williamsport police officer Eric Derr by the Pennsylvania Attorney General. According to the Sun Gazette, new evidence related to Derr’s alleged unlawful use of a computer led to the refiling of 28 charges that had been dropped. Evidence suggests Derr abused his position when he ran background checks on co-workers, suspects for personal reasons and women with whom he had relationships during this time. Derr also allegedly absolved suspects who were involved in crimes by taking administrative steps to assure they didn’t get caught. Derr will be in court March 8th to face an arraignment for the new charges.
