A Pennsylvania superior appellate court ruling this week will allow police officers the authority to stop a vehicle in the commonwealth if any part of the car’s license plate is obstructed in any manner. According to Penn Live, the decision was newly interpreted after an April 2021 case in which the Philadelphia officer says he made a traffic stop due to the website at the bottom of the car’s license plate being covered, and discovered the occupants of the car to have drugs and illegal firearms.
