FOUR TO FACE TRIAL IN 2024 LOYALSOCK SHOOTING
Four area residents will face trial in connection with a March retaliatory shooting on Randall Circle, just a day after 15-year-old Ahmeen Palmer was killed in Loyalsock Township. According to the Sun Gazette, police say Damier Sams-Glover, Kharu Rorie, Jaysin Applewhite, and Tykir Smith were allegedly involved in planning the attack, which included an Uber ride and evidence recovered from cell phones. A judge ruled Friday that there’s enough evidence to proceed to trial. All four face multiple charges, including conspiracy and assault, with the juveniles being tried as adults.
MAN IN CUSTODY FROM A STALKING INCIDENT IN HUGHESVILLE
A Hughesville man is back in custody after allegedly stalking a woman following a previous assault case. According to the Sun Gazette, Drew Houseknecht reportedly followed the victim from Muncy Creek Township to Muncy Township on September 11, attempting to pull her from her car and seizing her phone. Police say he threatened her over prior strangulation-related charges. Houseknecht was arrested the next day and arraigned on felony intimidation and misdemeanor stalking and criminal mischief charges. He remains jailed on $50,000 bail.
SELF-GUIDED TOURS OF STATE GAME LANDS
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hosting free, self-guided driving tours showcasing wildlife habitat and conservation work. In Lycoming and Union counties, State Game Lands 252 will be open Sunday, October 26, for a nine-mile tour starting at the Habitat Crew Building in Allenwood. Visitors can see historical sites, including a former U.S. Army Depot and World War II-era TNT bunkers, while exploring water impoundments, dove fields, woodcock areas, and grasslands. All-wheel drive vehicles are recommended, and Game Commission staff will be on hand to answer questions.
DANVILLE MISSION SEEKING NEW UNDERGARMENT DONATIONS
The Good Samaritan Mission in Danville, is asking the community for donations of new underwear, socks, and bras in all sizes, for children through adults. Officials say contributions help provide dignity, comfort, and confidence to families and individuals facing difficult circumstances. Donations can be dropped off at 568 Ferry Street during business hours: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of the month. FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH CLAIMS A RENOVO
One person is dead following a Friday afternoon crash on Route 120. State police say 26-year-old John Rosario of Renovo crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a pickup driven by 47-year-old Scott Nye Jr., also of Renovo. Nye suffered minor injuries and was taken to UPMC Lock Haven, while his passenger, Shelia Nye, sustained serious injuries and was flown to UPMC Williamsport. Both vehicles were disabled and towed, with fire crews, EMS, Life Flight, and PennDOT responding to the scene.
COGAN STATION MAN ARRESTED FOR 33 CHILD PORN CHARGES
A Lycoming County man is behind bars on more than 30 felony counts of possessing child pornography. According to the Sun Gazette, 51-year-old Christopher David Pogue of Cogan Station was arrested Thursday after investigators seized cellphones and a hard drive containing 32 images and videos of child sexual abuse material. The investigation began with a cybertip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Pogue turned himself in, was arraigned on 33 felony counts of sexual abuse of children and four counts of illegal use of a communication device, and is being held on $150,000 bail.
MOUNT CARMEL RESCUE LOOKING FOR NEW LOCATION
Mommy and Me Rescue in Mount Carmel is searching for a new home after learning its East Fifth Street building will be sold. According to the *News-Item*, the nonprofit, at that location since 2017, must vacate by February 28. Founder Carol Kalinowski says the rescue wants to remain in the borough while exploring nearby properties, downsizing, and preparing for a November fundraiser.
