The state Attorney General’s Office is handling the case after the county district attorney recused himself. No new trial date has been set.
DROUGHT WATCH IN LYCOMING COUNTY
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has declared a drought watch for 25 counties — including Bradford, Clinton, Lycoming, and Schuylkill — after months of below-average rainfall and declining stream and groundwater levels. Officials urge residents to cut water use by five to ten percent through simple steps like fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and running full laundry loads. DEP says the watch is precautionary, meant to raise awareness and encourage conservation before conditions worsen.

NORRY COMMISSIONERS WANT TO HOLD PROPERTY TAX AT 30 MILLS
The Northumberland County Commissioners are asking a judge to approve keeping the county’s property tax levy at 30 mills for another year—five mills above the statutory limit. Commissioners say the move is needed to offset rising employee health insurance costs, which could jump by as much as 18 percent. During Tuesday’s meeting, the board also approved ordinances creating a blighted property reinvestment board and establishing new fees for the Recorder of Deeds and tax sales to fund demolition and rehabilitation efforts. Officials say they’ll continue reviewing department budgets to find additional cost savings for 2026.
