Rochon was previously convicted in 2024 of child pornography and aggravated indecent assault and had been released from prison just weeks earlier.
WILLIAMSPORT CITY COUNCIL AMENDS TERM LIMITS
Williamsport City Council has amended its term limits ordinance instead of overriding Mayor Derek Slaughter’s recent veto. According to the Sun Gazette, the change, proposed by City Solicitor Austin White, allows any elected official, regardless of prior terms, to seek re-election one more time. The revision means Mayor Slaughter, Councilwoman Bonnie Katz, and Controller Peg Woodring can each run again. The original ordinance had limited the mayor to two terms and council members to three consecutive terms.

PROGRAM TO HELP RURAL STUDENTS TAKE DRIVERS PERMIT TEST
PennDOT is launching a new pilot program at Williamson High School in Tioga County that lets students take their learner’s permit knowledge test at school instead of traveling to a driver’s license center. The two-year pilot, also offered at Cowanesque High School, aims to make testing more accessible in rural areas. PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll says the program saves time for families and students. Tests are administered by trained teachers, and students can retake them at school until they pass.
