FETTERMAN SAYS ICE NEEDS TO CONSULT THE COMMUNITY
Democratic Senator John Fetterman is pushing back against a federal plan to convert warehouses in Schuylkill and Berks counties into ICE detention centers. In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Fetterman warned the proposal would strain local infrastructure, cost more than 1.6 million dollars a year in lost tax revenue, and move forward without community input. He’s calling for impact studies, federal funding guarantees, and public engagement before any conversion moves ahead.

Olympics
* This weekend at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, top moments included Breezy Johnson winning gold for the U.S. in women’s downhill and the U.S. defending its figure skating team title in a 69-68 nail-biter over Japan. Italy also shined with its first gold in women’s 3,000 m speed skating as host nation Italy leads the early medal count, followed by Norway and Japan, with the U.S. among the nations earning multiple medals so far.
- Lindsey Vonn’s daring Olympic comeback ended in heartbreak Sunday, when the 41-year-old crashed just seconds into the women’s downhill at the Milan Cortina Games and broke her left leg. Vonn was treated on the slope, airlifted by helicopter, and later underwent surgery, casting uncertainty over the future of one of alpine skiing’s most storied careers.
