New details have been released in the Snyder County murder-suicide. Prosecutors say 51-year-old Jason Heimbach called 911 Sunday morning and admitted to killing his wife, 37-year-old Amanda Heimbach, inside their McClure home. Investigators say a suicide note recovered by police said Amanda planned to leave him. She died from blunt force trauma to the head, and officials say a flashlight was used. The couple’s four children were asleep in the home and were not hurt. Hours later, police say Jason intentionally crashed into a parked tractor-trailer on Route 104 in Perry Township and died on impact.
NO BIDS YET FOR FORMER WILLIAMSPORT CITY HALL
Williamsport City Council is holding off on seeking new bids for the vacant City Hall building. Council voted 4-to-2 Thursday to table a proposal that would have allowed the administration to solicit offers for the 134-year-old building on West Fourth Street. Supporters said it would only open the door to bids, not commit the city to a sale. But council members who voted to wait said they want a clear scoring system, public input and preservation protections in place first. City Hall has been vacant for about five years and condemned since 2021.
